Default Newbie Air Filter Question

My neighborhood motorcycle mechanic suggested I get a screaming eagle air cleaner for my 2010 FLSTC. Will I achieve the same results by installing a K&N filter in the stock housing?

It'll help, but you won't get the same results if you went to a complete Stage 1 type set-up, such as, Arlen Ness Big Sucker, Screamin Eagle, DKCustoms, FuelMoto, etc. Lots to choose from that are as good or better than the SE unit that cost less. JMHO.

+1. Stock housing won't give you as much air flow as the others mentioned here. I got the K&N cone & love it.

Forgot to mention, OP, if you haven't seen it, there is an air cleaner thread going on in this section. Guys and gals putting up pics of what they're running. Might be worth a look.

The stock housing itself is what actually restricts the airflow. The filter is comparable to any other out there with regards to airflow (if you don't nitpick, that is).
