Default Stage 1 Air Filter - V&H or AN

Is the Vance and Hines and the Arlen Ness Stage 1 air filter basically the same performance boost?

They (along with most stage 1 -type intakes) pretty much should have the same performance improvement, yes.

That said, I prefer the AN unit.

I like how it is made, how it looks, and best of all, the excellent customer service they have shown me. My unit had a defect that appeared several years after my original purchase. They sent me a new unit. No request for receipt, exchange or postage. It just showed up at my place after I called an told them what problem I was having.

I believe that they are a stand up company, so I encourage others to buy from them. How else can we support good companies? I have not had the V&H unit, so I have no direct knowledge of V&H customer support. Others will have to speak for their experience with that company.

Oh, and AN is local to you. stop by their factory and see the units first-hand. Worth the trip.

Thanks for the reply. Yep, they are 2 miles down the road, I probably will. Just wanted to be armed with a little knowledge before I went there.

I agree with SprungDave. Most stage 1 intakes provide relatively the same amount of performance gain. I have both the V&H and AN Big Sucker. I prefer the AN for its clean simplistic design.

This should be all I need correct?

http://www.cyclesolutionsonline.com/...ss_chrome1.htm

$109 with free shipping, seems like a pretty good price.

Installed it last week. Pretty painless to put on. Don't notice a huge difference though lol.

U Really didn't make a bit of difference by only adding a HP A/C.. Ur Stock A/C will flow probably 50% more air than U Engine and pipes will allow..

JUST putting a HP A/C on wont make U Engine flow one CI of more AIR Through it.... Therefore it won't make any DIFF... other than look better to U...

Read UP on it.. Goggle it... and U'll see and understand WHY..

Harley motor like AIR PUMP..

All works together...

Stock A/C-- stock heads/cams/pipes

Only Soooo much can be processed and Flow..

Changing only one of the Three will not net much improvement. Regardless of manufacturer claims...

U have to Do ALLLLLL Three to work together..
LIKE new A/C-- New FREE flowing PIPes, and New Cams.....

Then U need a good,,, NOT just a cheap Tuner and then a Good Dyno will really Make a Difference once all the mods are done...

THEN U will be able to feel the Difference in what U've done

Having to do ALL This is called the HARLEY TAX.. and all of us who wants to see a 20% or more improvement in TQ and HP on our bikes have/had to do it.
