Dear Friends ,

my 1993 FATBOY with 10K miles give me some problems with popping and backfiring , however if I change spark plugs the bike is running like brand new with no problem at all , after couples of days it start all over again , slowly start popping and backfiring , it will not end till I will change sparks plugs again ....

I cannot figure out what can be the problem , but I cannot change spark plugs every couples of days , moreover when I take them off they look brand new , no sign of problems .

Can someone give me some good advice ?

Make sure all your plug wire connections are tight. Before you change plugs pull the wires and put them back.

 

Have the intake manifold gaskets been replaced? If not I would start there, as that is a symptom of bad seals. You may also may want to consider listing future posts for this bike in the EVO section.

 

It's a little sad that there's a 20 year old bike out there with only 10k miles on it.

 

I just bought a 14 y/o springer with 4K on it......What's that-300 per year??

Yep ... my '96 Sportster had under 4,900 miles when I found it November of 2011. It had been sitting for six years untouched. They are out there.
