Nice little build page you have going here. Looks like a good bike though. I had a 99 Fat Boy, I bought it brand new and I loved it. Mine was the Sinister Blue and Diamond Ice paint scheme. I had to sell it though. For some reason it kept loosing oil pressure and the lifters would stick, then crash the valves.

I told the guy I sold it to that it had the oil problem, so he financed the purchase through a local HD dealer. He bought an extended factory warranty and the next time it had a valve crash he took it to the dealer to repair it. It turned out mine had a casting crack somewhere in the engine case that was causing the oil pressure drop. He got a BRAND NEW engine for free. I guess it all worked out in the end.

I can't wait to see this bike all redone. I'll be watching for updates.

before and after the first repairs/fixs

new fender fit test b4 the tear down AGAIN lol

forgot to show the photo of the pulley - the pulley locking plate screws had broke and sheared off - had to drill them out with small bit
got lucky, the drill caught and pushed them both out the other side - so easy fix for that at least

also took out the rear shocks -  pressed them , removed the ftermarket crap lowering kit the prev owner put on

time to change the stock shock / modded height

the previous owner had installed a lowering kit - waaaaaaaay to low it was 2-1/4 or 2.5

not really sure i think 2.5

sal ordered new lowering kit that goes 1" to 2"

so the problem - no press , what do ya do ? lol
table vise and c clamps

lock the entire shock in the vise without bending the crap out of it --
use C clamp to compress the shock in - remove the retaining ring , slowly back off the c clamp
job done easy cheezy
a press would have made it waaaaay easy

here u can see the shock housing on the table
black cylinder in front of ready patch can

i then vise the inner shock so i can remove the old lowering kit from it
pictured below

turning off the old lowering kit

old kit removed

now to just screw new kit on
slide everything back into the housing
vise the entire shock up and get at it with the c clamps to compress the shock back into place
install the retaining ring , then back of clamp and shocks are done !!!

hard to see but they are installed
just behind the wiring

oooooh new lowered shocks , but not frame dragging low

went with 1" drop - results to be had once she sits on her new wheels
