Nice little build page you have going here. Looks like a good bike though. I had a 99 Fat Boy, I bought it brand new and I loved it. Mine was the Sinister Blue and Diamond Ice paint scheme. I had to sell it though. For some reason it kept loosing oil pressure and the lifters would stick, then crash the valves.
I told the guy I sold it to that it had the oil problem, so he financed the purchase through a local HD dealer. He bought an extended factory warranty and the next time it had a valve crash he took it to the dealer to repair it. It turned out mine had a casting crack somewhere in the engine case that was causing the oil pressure drop. He got a BRAND NEW engine for free. I guess it all worked out in the end.
I can't wait to see this bike all redone. I'll be watching for updates.

before and after the first repairs/fixs
new fender fit test b4 the tear down AGAIN lol
forgot to show the photo of the pulley - the pulley locking plate screws had broke and sheared off - had to drill them out with small bit
got lucky, the drill caught and pushed them both out the other side - so easy fix for that at least

well heres the socket i found at sears 30 bux better then 190 + problem is it needs to be about 6 inch long
cut in half and welded to black pipe - didnt have any fancy pipe - so just welded it to threaded nipple we had layin around!! not pretty but it worked
here it is alllll welded up and ready to use
not the best welds but it does not need to be perfect - never said i was a welder , im more of a grinder lol to make it look better
i got bored painted it black and did green hd - didnt have orange hahaha
and they say you need the harley tool ? who said that?
yeah man lol i love this thing
ok so onto the mods
this is new grips - new hand controls
the old ones looked ok but had little rusty bits , and were scratched pretty bad
putting the primary back together
right before usen my fancy socket lol pvc to protect shaft
torquen it down ,,oak flooring works wonders
he finished torque that and was removen socket as i took foto - wood was moved to tighten other nut
new derby cover installed
swing arm chrome added
removed cover - told him it fell off - didnt like that crappy stock one , ooops it fell off
primary filled & no leaks so far thank goodnessssssss
as it sits for now im tired as hell

just a shot of the front rim wasted our time polishing -- he is getting the spoked wheels ordered tomoro GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
chrome more more more
installing the elf custom bar/ hidden wire lol
another bar control shot
tested wiring for the lights to the rear just rigged them for testing
new contrtol
new oil temp dipstick
new point cover more chroooome
also took out the rear shocks - pressed them , removed the ftermarket crap lowering kit the prev owner put on
it was waaaaaay to low like 2.5 inch --installed ones that could be adjusted 1 to 2 inch from stock hieght.. will get photos later of that

time to change the stock shock / modded height
the previous owner had installed a lowering kit - waaaaaaaay to low it was 2-1/4 or 2.5
not really sure i think 2.5
sal ordered new lowering kit that goes 1" to 2"
so the problem - no press , what do ya do ? lol
table vise and c clamps
lock the entire shock in the vise without bending the crap out of it --
use C clamp to compress the shock in - remove the retaining ring , slowly back off the c clamp
job done easy cheezy
a press would have made it waaaaay easy
here u can see the shock housing on the table
black cylinder in front of ready patch can
i then vise the inner shock so i can remove the old lowering kit from it
pictured below
turning off the old lowering kit
old kit removed
now to just screw new kit on
slide everything back into the housing
vise the entire shock up and get at it with the c clamps to compress the shock back into place
install the retaining ring , then back of clamp and shocks are done !!!
hard to see but they are installed
just behind the wiring
oooooh new lowered shocks , but not frame dragging low
went with 1" drop - results to be had once she sits on her new wheels
