Well folks,
Today I had sometime to prep for the 'bikers reunion' in new liskeard, going to be 500Kms (315 miles) quick ride mostly highways so a windshield is warranted (specially I may hit some light rain).
But I found a cool way to make this ugly contraption look 'presentable' and it doesn't look half *** bad if you ask me after all.
Looks OK on the bike actually kinda like the old ugly gold wings

A - They are not quick detach
B - They are a pain to install and uninstall on my forks .
I use my Windshield once every other year, when I do long highway rides (more than 300 Miles of Highway in one day) so this is the best solution I can think of with my limited fab. abilities

I had the same buffeting problem on my Deluxe. I tried different windshield heights, and I tried the memphis shades plexi deflectors. Nothing worked.
Finally as an experiment, I took a windshield that absolutely didn't work, and cut it down in steps. First a few inches off the top, then a little more, then some off the sides. Now it's just about "sport shield or fly screen" size. 10" above the headlight housing. It takes wind pressure off my torso, and puts my helmet in clean air. I wear a full face helmet, so this might not work for you if you halve a half or 3/4 helmet

Although now it looks a LOT better

Maybe this is the QD modification you were originally referring to? I used 1/8" T6061 aluminum and 1/8" Lexan. It still needed work, but I retired and lost access to the machines I used. If I redesigned them I'd use 3/16" or 1/4" aluminum and extend the tips another 4-6". The fangs actually mount to the QD's 4 bolts, replacing the outside washers.
