Project Dark Horse - 07 FXSTi
Hey Yall! Im new to the Harley world so this build will be a learning experience for me. Im mechanically inclined I just don't know all of the specifics of a Harley. yet.
this is my '07 Standard, 96" with a 6spd, with 14k on the clock. I bought it in November this year with a few... mods.. already done to it. It has, a mustang seat, HD Backrest, V&H Short Shots, V&H Fuelpak, what appears to be a screamin eagle air cleaner, Kuryakyn flame switchblade pegs (junk), diamond style grips (ugly), diamond style shift peg, raggedy saddlebags, fork bag, a gradual tint windshield, and a ghost flame paintjob.
Its PAINFULLY obvious that the last owner didn't take care of it (note mileage). ive started taking it apart little by little and cleaning it. the satin engine is DISGUSTING. The engine is the satin gray and looks as if the last owner spilled a drink or something all over it and didn't clean it off. I took the console off and there was dirt caked under it. Cleaned the seat with Meguiars leather cleaner and conditioner, my rag was black after 5 minutes. All of the chrome is oxidized and swirled.
The tires are brand new, and the paint looks good. there are a few scratches on the bottom side of the frame that I need to touch up. I plan on going with a bit of a vintage style with it, with the help of some RSD parts, and stuff from other various manufacturers. I HATE chrome so there will be very little chrome on it. I almost wish I wouldn't have bought it after seeing how neglected its been, but 1, we all started somewhere. and 2, Ill be giving it a second chance to be something great. If anyone has any tips, suggestions, ideas, or comments please feel free to share. Ill update this as I can, which will probably be slow and into the spring time. Anywho, im done babbling, heres a couple pics...

The blue book on it is $10,200. I got it for 9,200. the biggest thing for me was the mileage. Im thinking it just sat in a garage a lot and deteriorated. theres not any rust on it, except for the front spokes. but that's minimal. Ive already got a 5k+ wishlist built on Dennis Kirk. My first goal is to get the engine cleaned up, then start getting the chrome powdercoated. I wanted a night train, but they were out of my price range.

hmmmm... five layers of plating over top of the metal... lol. first thing I need to do for speed is a weight reduction. as in my ***. that is a nice scoot you got there tho. I love me some apes, I just cant have em here. (might get in touch with the mom and register it in NC.... no handlebar restriction there)
