Not camping, but I did take my Sporty on a week long, 1600 mile trip two years ago. I stayed inside each night so there was no need for a tent. My Sporty is long gone, but it sure was a fun ride!

My wife and I don't take all the luxuries with us, but we enjoy it. The more simple the better.

Look for tents that have lightweight poles that fold down compact (6"). Always take an axe 😎

This is who I roll the Deluxe on long trips. Light stuff in the bag on the seat and tourpak, heavier items in the saddle bags. Just saw the old thread comment... oh well, maybe someone will pick up some tips from this.

Yeah, old thread, but I'll jump in. I've got the Harley soft luggage. It's the medium size suit case and the small bag for the sissy bar rack. The suit case is expandable and will hold a ton of stuff. The small bag is actually for my cpap and a couple of other small things. Between that and the saddle bags you can carry an awful lot of stuff. The longest road trip I've taken was 16 days and 6400 miles and I still didn't have to do laundry. There was no camping, but if we did I have a little one man tent that straps to the top of the saddle bag.

I know its an old thread, but not all of us were here back then and some styles and tech have changed a bit since the original posts. But here is my full long term set up for 5 days of camping in Colorado.

I have the large bag that sits on the seat with two sets of tools, sleeping bag and toiletry bag on the bottom(I have learned the hard way to always keep toiletries under your clothes even though more convenient to put them on top), including pillow towards the front so I can lean back against it, then my clothing followed by riding gear on top in case I need to change during the ride.

I have a smaller tall sissy bar bag hanging on the back of the bar that has the Tent and camping supplies. On the very top I carry water and snacks. In the swingarm bag I carry extra bungees and personal items.

The bags have straps to hold them on but I still secure with a bungee net to be safe and the net is nice when you just need to shove a water bottle or shirt under it without opening the bags or just to shove my gloves and such when I am at a gas station or restaurant.
