Default 2009 night train engine upgrade

i have a 09 night train and i am thinking about some engine mods. i was looking at going with the s&s 106 big bore kit and heads with cam and the whole nine yards. whats the best thing to do? i want more power and tourqe but also want to keep it still reliable. is this possible? anybody with any experince with this if you could give me some feed back or help steer me in the right direction i would appreciate it.

My buddy is doing a 107 upgrade on my 08 train. The kit is from fuel moto. You should check out their website. They provide a bunch of info. If you don't see the info you're looking for, they're pretty good about any questions.

Your build should reflect where do you want/ need the TQ..

How do you ride, What rpm's do you want the most power at, what rpm's will you ride at most of the time.

You need to know more of what you want and where, than just more TQ and HP in building a good motor for you.

The best thing to do is call them, ask for Jamie, he will set you up with any type of power needs you have. VERY happy with my setup!!

All depends on how deep your pockets are and in all honesty for what you put into a full big bore build you might as well drop in a S&S 124" and be done forever!

Default bore

You can get a lot out of a 103 bore on your cylinders and have the capability of an overbore if you need. With the 107 you have to replace the cylinders if you ever have a problem. The 103 will be a bit lower cost build also because the pistons are readily available from HD and about 1/2 the cost of custom pistons. For a reasonably priced upgrade with more value per HP I would go with a 103 overbore, ported heads, Andrews 54 cams, a free breathing air cleaner and a good 2 into 1 exhaust as recommended by your head porter. You'll also need a tuner and to put it all together a dyno operator that knows his stuff. It'll last longer that stock probably.

+1 on the 103 kit. Go a stage 4, get the right cam, and find some one who is excellent with machine the best out these heads, have the manifold port matched to the heads. With a good set of pipes and good tuner, you can easily see 120+ hp. Basically looking at same power as a 120R or more...that's what I'd do

i have 106 kit with 585 S&S cams, Ported and polished heads, and a HPI 55mm throttlr body, with a thundermax ECU and thunder header exhaust on my 08 nightrain. It will throw you off and lift the front wheel up if your not careful. But the real power doesnt kick in until 4000 rpm, then it pulls all the way until redline.
