I wanted it for my standard as well but funny after I did a andrews, 21 cam I no longer want it. The cam made the rpms so much more smoother that I really don't need it. The cam really smoothed out the rpms making a nicer hwy ride.. Along with a lot more power too
I have a SE 6 speed in my bike. It was a stock 5 speed, it's an 06 Deluxe. My engine is built a little bit but I couldn't imagine going back to a 5 speed. That's just my $0.02 on the topic!

This. That... and the other thing.
I dunno what the ratios are in the Baker... but the SE 6spd is essentially just adding an overdrive. I don't see an issue running it with an 88.
Love mine! Nice ride at "freeway" speeds... and I'm getting about a third more MPG at "freeway" speeds than the 5 speeds I ride with.
We have the Baker 6. Very, very nice. We've also owned a couple of touring bikes with the factory 6. Here's the flip side though -when I'm riding a 5 speed I'm just as happy and see no reason to upgrade.
Not all 6spd's are overdrive transmissions. The Baker DD6 is not an overdrive. DD stands for "direct drive" . Basically this transmission requires a sprocket change and it changes the final gear ratio of the bike. The early Screamin Eagle 6spd was an overdrive. The gear ratio change was in the transmission not in the fianal drive ratio of the bike. Having said that. I have used both transmissions and I like the Baker the best. I've used these on two '03 Heritages with 88c.u. engines. The bikes did well with either transmission.
As stated by one smart guy above, you'll get more mileage and more bang for your buck from a good cam. It will stretch out each gear so you won't feel the need to change as soon. Since upgrading my cam, I hardly EVER use 6th...
