Default Question for breakout owners

Hi, I picked up my mew breakout on Thursday and whilst taking the seat off to plug in my super tuner I noticed that the only thing holding the battery in apart from gravity were the positive and negative cables?

I removed the battery and noticed the tray it sits in has two clips underneath which look like they should hook round the frame but are to far apart so the whole thing is free to move around. There is also nothing attaching the battery to the tray. I called the dealer who said this was how they are.

Can any breakout owners have a look at theirs and let me know if this is normal?

Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply Todd, I'm sure you would have noticed as I've never seen a battery loose like this before so it was quite obvious. I know the breakout is a bit of a parts bin special but I did expect the parts to fit :-)

If you could have a look later I would appreciate it.

Yeah, the battery just sits in the hole. Was the same way on my Blackline as well.

Seems fairly sturdy and secure in there though. I've had to move it around in there a little and even though it's only those two cables holding it in, it doesn't want to move around at all.

That's great, thanks for the confirmation. Yeah the wires do hold it fairly well, it was when i saw that the tray was floating too that I thought that something may be missing.

Apes look great 24v.

I can see no good reason why the battery needs to be "fastened". It cannot move sideways in any direction (it's a snug fit). It also cannot "fall out" even if the bike is tipped over, as it will be stopped by the seat pan. Also, NOT fastening it down makes taking it out to charge it or replace it a LOT easier.

But, if you do want it firmyl secured, you COULD apply Velcro to the battery's bottom and to the mating urface it sits on. Hwoever, you might then have a pretty hard time removing the battery when you do want to do so! A SMALL piece of Velcro might reassure you a bit without making the battery really hard to pull out.
