thinking if everyone else bought custom wheels, then my stock spoked rims would look custom... that'd be a win for me....

i plan on "eventually" getting 18" & 21" wheels, but this is why its probably going to be one of the last mods i do...

i'm not saying its not worth it or validated due to the cost of business, but the black billet ones i was looking at would run me around 3500++ once i add the rims, tires, and other parts needed with them.

There is no such thing as a cheap custom yet quality wheel. I know I looked high and low for two months before dropping $1500 for my 17" rear and 21" front wheels. I actually feel that i made out pretty good considering most wheels would have run me $2k for a set.

Let me point out an ob ious here, sorry if it was said before, I skipped a bit ....

OP wants fo buy one wheel. Singular. But four for his car are the same price. Word problem time: if eight people were to see OP's wheel and want it how many would you have? Now if eight people saw OP's car and wanted the same wheels how many do you have?

There is manufacturing costs as stated above, but how much does a singular wheel make? I have never sedn a bike carrying a spare (minus one with a sidecar in pics, and those were far from custom).

On my Jeep many years ago I had stripes on my black wheels. I didn't like them and Googled removal. The search found "use fingernail polish to remove the stripes" in the brief. It worked. The wheels were so common a Google brief fixed it.

Motorcycle wheels just simply do not have the volume of sales to warrant the cost of cheap *** car wheels. Plus the manufacturing is different. There is no need to offer a supply when the demand is so low.

There is a HUGE profit margin in the Harley aftermarket (there is nothing "custom" about them) wheel industry.

With that said, there are very few manufacturers of aluminum wheels in the US for cars. They're almost all made in China.

I'd bet the farm that H-D wheels are made in China. Also, don't forget that the HD wheels don't come with bearings and spacers so add another $100 or so plus the labor to install them with the correct tool.

Let's not even mention spoke wheels. The cost of materials are stupid inexpensive yet these "custom" spoke manufacturers are getting ridiculous money for them.

I say, Good For Them. If you can find a market and people will pay for the product and there is a tremendous profit margin, DO IT. That is was the free market economy is all about.

In comparison:

Raceline Wheels are custom forged billet wheels. Tell me, how can they sell this wheel for $550 and another company sells an HD wheel for $2k.
