Default Need advice on used Fat Boy purchase

Newbie here looking for a used Fat Boy. Any years to avoid? Years I should be looking at?

6 speed or 5 speed?

There are a couple of 2005 Anniversary editions for sale locally...was this a good year?

I would like to have fuel injection, and am thinking of 2003 or newer.

thx.

I can't think of any "years to avoid" had a 2004 FLSTFI myself. The 5 speed with the 88 motor is great. The FI system is nice to have. I am missing it on my Deuce mainly for the start ups.

Oh yeah, there was an issue with the 2004 softails having the float sticking in the fuel tank. Most people would have had it fixed when their bike was new if they had the problem.

As close to knew as you can afford. I personally wouldn't get a softail that didn't at the very least the 96 ci engine and 6 speed trans.

Strongly agree. 103 if you can manage it.

I would like to stick around 10k...but if the right bike came up could go higher, really don't want to spend more than 12k.

Although...if this bike was closer I'd be considering this! http://flagstaff.craigslist.org/mcy/4408385601.html

Kind of how us guys roll, right?

i've always heard that the only year to truly avoid is 2007... something about that year makes people call it the 'bastard year' for the fatboy. something about the front wheel being offset, and parts not fitting right i think.
