Thumbs up Dead Creek Cycles Bobber Bracket (Swing Arm Bag Hard Mount)

I bought another used Leatherworks 312XL swing arm bag. I bought one a year or so ago and ended up selling it because I didn't think I needed it. Well, I figured out that I do, in fact, need it. LOL

I was going to fab up a bracket myself but after looking into it, I thought "why not get one that has already been made, powder coated and drilled with the correct holes?". Also, the Dead Creek Cycles Bobber Bracket allows you to place the bag where you want on the bracket so it could be further forward or backward, which is very nice.

http://www.deadcreekcycles.com/Dead-...ls_p_1099.html

I mounted the bracket per the instructions. The only thing I did different was instead of using the supplied 5/16" threaded bolt on the bottom hole, I used a 5/16" bolt instead and dremelled off the end so that it was the same length as the others. I could have done it the way the instructions say but I was after the bolt on the back end would hit my belt when I ride lowered (yes, I know I could raise it via the shotgun shock). But it was just for my peace of mind, like I said, I could have probably done it the way the instructions state.

I also used chrome spacers (which I already had) instead of the black ones from the kit. I would have used the black ones if I didn't already have the chrome ones.

Here is the bracket mounted. Sorry for the not so great pics:

I then followed the instructions and put some paint on the ends of the bolts for the mounting bracket for the bag and drilled them out.

I then mounted the bag:

And here is the final product:

If there was a small downside is that I wished I may have mounted it a little more up on the bracket because the top right bracket mount is hitting the stitching on the top part of the bag. You can kinda see it here. It's nothing major but I am picky. HA!

Here is the whole bike. It is set up for a trip on Wednesday, so pardon the passenger seat and sissy bar. LOL This is at about stock height:

Overall, I give this kit a 10 out of 10. It was VERY easy to install, the instructions were very clear, parts were very nice and fit perfect.

Thanks to Dead Creek for another great product!!!

Glad it worked out for you! It looks good.

I can say that the quality of their kit is very good. Their customer service is very good too.

I purchased one, like you didn't feel like fabricating one up. Install on my new Slim went well, modified the install process a bit to work correctly, same reason, didn't want a nut on the inside lower bolt rubbing the belt. Good quality product!

i purchased and installed the same bracket and did the same thing with the lower bolt.

i really like the kit... high quality, clean install, and not super expensive.

my only regret is that i didn't get a larger swingarm bag...
i used the H-D one and it's nice, but it looks like the one you used is a bit wider/larger?

Im not sure what the dimensions are on the HD one but the Leatherworks 312XL is 5" wide. Its the perfect size because I can fit my clear and tinted shield in it, with room to spare for a hat or other small items.

What bolt did you use instead of the supplied threaded bolt? I cannot see your pictures.
