14's should be legal for you, 16's may be just over.. I would say if you are using a chrome bar get the Carlini's if black either is ok just get what you like more. I prefer Carlini's

I attached a pic of my 14", 1.5" Gangsters. I originally bought the 16" but when going to install I could tell they were way to high for me. Carlini let me exchange them because they were never installed yet. These fit me like I glove, I ran everything internal and I couldn't be happier. I doubt I will ever own another bike without apes. So many of my aches and pains have just disappeared. Good luck and let us know what you decide on, I'm anxious to watch this thread.

The 17" Carlini Evil Apes would be higher than your shoulders. SJ Ron

Nice shot of your apes, what hidden cable system did you use and what lengths? just bought 14" 1.5 apes but the guy didn't know what brand they are, looks like HD fat bars type, and sure could use a reference on cable lengths.

I have the Evil Apes on my Road Glide in 17" in chrome. I dig them. The cool thing about the RSD bars is the gusset that they use. The cool thing about the evil apes is the bend in the bar. I bought this bike with these bars on it but ran Carlini's on another bike I had as well.

Personally, I'd opt for something in 1.5" diameter which neither of these are available in. Check out Buky Bars. Nice 1.5" designs.

There are lots of other bars out there besides these two brands.
