Default fatboy oil change ???'s

Hi guys,
This forum has been really helpfull with my 04 fatboy. This is my first harley and it has a little over 5000 on it. I'm not sure if the previous owner changed the oil or not, so i'm gonna do it now. I don't have an owner's or service manual, so i'm not too sure what type of oil and filter and how much it will need... any help on this would be great. Thanks, Joe
P.S. Is there any other 5000 mile service that needs to be done????

Well with 5000 miles you can but any 20w50w you chose. HD sell filters for 10-12 bucks, ask the parts guy. As for other service you can log on to HD web site and choose the service maintenance under Motorcycle Service Check-up and enter your VIN # and mileage, it will give you a check list of related service items. Here is the HD service link: https://www.harley-davidson.com/EX/M...bmLocale=en_US

Hope this helps,
FBL

First off, buy a service manual. It's a wealth of knowledge. Everything in the previous post is good info IMO.

Warg is right...split with $60.00 and get that Service Manual! Great investment!

get a scavenger system to change it, it gets ALL the old oil out, just draining the tank is not as good
