Thanks for the link. I have not heard of this program before. That would be great if this is what they end up doing.

Update: heard from them yesterday. Said the balancer (or was it balencers) came loose somehow and messed up the crankcase. They have the warranty adjuster coming out to take pictures. They said it is a long process and could take 30 days to go through. Luckily I have my Road Glide to use for the next month.

Update: heard from the dealer that the Warranty people OKed my claim. They started ordering my parts. Something about this is going to take 3-4 weeks to fix.

Hmmm , coincidentally the approx turn around time for a re-man motor , I'd ask them if there doing the re-man route , get your air cleaner off because it won't come back with it .

Awesome! that's why I have two bikes as well. Nothing sucks more than being without a ride for a month in the summer. Best of luck.

Thanks for the tip. I will ask. I need to go by there tomorrow and get my rain suit and other various things that are in the saddlebags.

I've had two remanned motors. They should remove the air cleaner and all attachments before shipping the motor. When they did mine, the dealer removed the carb, manifold, chrome timer cover, compensator, even the stator and just shipped the "long block" back to H-D. I know, because I saw the pile of parts sitting there while the motor was away. A remanned motor includes none of those parts.

Still, never hurts to ask.

What are the signs the balancer is going bad?

I've looked at this in my service manual and I'm not really sure how it functions ,guessing there's counter balance weights behind the outboard gears synched by the chain running under the crank gear ?
