Default Iron/Shovel clutch lever on a Twincam?

Can I use an Ironhead or Shovelhead clutch lever on a twin cam? I used a later model clutch lever and perch on my shovel and it worked fine. I don't remember the year that the lever/perch came from. It could have been from a 90's Evo for all i know. I've heard that the later models have increased leverage and will work on a shovel but a shovel lever(possibly) won't work on a Evo or Twin. Can anyone shed any light on this?
