I went to my dealer and asked if they had any mis-matched take offs. I then went to a local body shop and had them painted to match my wife's bike. Did same thing with a tour pack. They didn't charge me for the bags or tour pack just the paint and locks.
Body shop friend painted them for free. This is for my wife's Heritage.
They had to do a little body work on the bags but in the end it was worth it. I can't remember what brackets I used but they are real popular. She can take the tour pack on and off when ever she wants. I also put Custom Dynamics light in the tour pack.

I forgot to mention she had to change pipes so the bags would fit.

If you like the 50's and 60's style these saddlebags would be hard to pass up:

I don't have these bags so I can't vouch for the quality. With that being said, there seems to be a lot of happy customers on there site. I plan on purchasing a pair for my Deluxe.

I don't get touring bags on a Softail, but hey, maybe that is just me. I just don't think that they flow with the style of a Softail. If you want touring bags, why not just go to a Road King?

Those are real interesting for a Deluxe. Nice throw back look.

Definitely think you can do it wrong. Also think it can be done right. Deluxe has a nice subtle retro styling to it. Hard bags fit with that done right. Here's one I think was done right. Although I would put the extensions on.
