Love the Avatar!
As far as helmets, you may want to check out http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle-helmets. They have lots of useful videos that talk about sizing helmets and such. I ride with the matte black HJC RPHA and I love it. It vents well. If I were to buy another it would be a modular.

I did a full on faceplant into the pavement at at least 35mph. I started the skid at 65.
My Shoei Neotec front took all the force.
Shoei inspected the helmet, part of their service.
They replace the modular front.
I had just bought the helmet. Best 600.00 ever
Do a search for gross front faceplant photos, I saw one with a guys face split near in half.
But hey, you may only have a melon worth under 200 bucks.
I'm guessing your loved ones would put your value at a great deal more.
my 2 cents

Bltwell Gringo S
Picked up a Gringo S today I was in San Bernardino, at Chaparral and I was planning on buying the Bell Bullett. Or at least trying this cool "retro" helmet.
As I walked in the helmet area, I could not believe my eyes. There was a Biltwell Gringo with a tilt up visor. I tried it on and it fit perfect. Salesman said it is the first and only one they have ever seen in the store, more are on the way.
Then I tried on the Bell Bullitt, and I could not find a size that was comfortable, the Bullett just does not fit me.
I have now ridden this -S at 65-70 MPH with no windshield and I can't believe it: It is quieter than my old Arai Quantum/F. Although no vents, with the shield cracked, it seems to flow plenty of air. I have only ridden 20 miles, but so far I give this helmet very high marks, and not only 1/2 the price of the Bell, it looks more like my 1966 Bell Star than the Bullett does.
