No buffeting.
The Deluxe has more rake to the front so this might account for that.

That is interesting. The Road King has no fairing and no electronics, so it's kinda a stripped down Touring. Quite a bargain, and it gets you into that line with hard bags, too. I was quite surprised at the very reasonable price.

But, I'm not a hard bags guy. I actually want quick detachable because I want that clean look when I'm not on a trip. So, that's really the only downside for me for a Heritage. Nuts & bolts to get the bags off.

Interestingly, I was just talking to the local sales guy on this very topic, and he mentioned that there was a local rider, a woman, who was riding a Heritage and wanted to trade for a Road King because she wanted hard bags. We both agreed that getting a bike that might not really be the one you want just because of the bags was...curious. He was also concerned about the differences in handling, and he was afraid she'd realize she might have made a mistake. All you have to do is lift a Touring off the jiffy stand and you'll realize this ain't no Softy.

Sidenote: The PNW HOG Rally was here last month, and I ended up talking to a husband and wife. The wife had a Heritage and the husband a new Touring. Turns out the Heritage had been his, and he bought a Touring and gave the Heritage to his wife. Here was his take on the differences:

"I made a mistake".

He really missed the handling and the 103B motor.

I'm sittin' here with boxes of parts that all came together this week. I need one more seat hold down nut, and I'm gonna start on a little project to make mine a little more "Heritage-like".

Pics in a few days.

Checking the specs...

Now that is interesting. What's curious is that the rakes are different, 32.1 for the Deluxe and 31 for the Heritage, but the trail is the same at 5.8" for both.

That would have to mean different triple trees, yes?

I did not realize that.
Is it because only the rear is lowered?
Would that affect the rake?
It handled just like my Heritage.
I meant to mention in my last post;
On the Deluxe, the seat sits you slightly closer,
and the handlebar setup is less of a reach.
It was still comfortable.
