Default LED turn signal wiring

I just bought some mirrors with the turn signal integrated into them. I mounted them to my '88 softail but hit a snag when I went to wire them up. The new signals have two wires (one black, and one red with black stripe), but the factory signal only has one wire. I tried grounding the black wire and hooking up the red wire but it didn't work. Has anyone ran a two wire LED signal on an older softail? What do I need to do?

You may want to switch the leads, LED's are polarity sensitive. If that doesn't work, someone else will chime in soon. :-)

Your factory signal only has 1 wire?
