Default Which is the best year for Springers?

I'm really wanting to buy a springer, and after looking at 2007, that was an awkward year for parts. So, which are the best years, if any, to look for?

2008 - 2011.

This way you get the latest advancements, including the 96 inch motor. Others prefer the older Springers, but, for me, I'd get the most recent I could get. Buying a new Heritage and putting a new springer front end on it is an expensive way to go, but another option.

.

You can't go wrong with any year, it seems. Do you want a Heritage or an FXSTS? Evo or TC88? I've had a Heritage and an FX (both TC88's)--both great bikes. My brother has a 99 FX and although the Evo shakes a bit more, it too feels "right." The newer ones have fatter tires and fuel injection, but I say buy the one that tickles your fancy...

When I went looking (and found) a Road King, I initially sold my 2000 FXSTS--then bought it back. Seems she's a keeper..

I just rode a springer last week, and I have heard you either like it, or you don't. I loved it!
I'm driving 6 hours to look at one tomorrow. I've been reading about certain years having more issues than others, etc, so, I thought I would ask the experts. You guys, who have experience with owning them. I have heard that springer fronts are nightmares to maintain, and feel horrible to ride. I didn't think so, after I rode one, I thought it felt solid, and with the weight, felt more planted to the road. On my 98 heritage, sometimes I feel like the front is sliding a little.

IMO a FL Springer does feel more "planted" on the highway than a plain FL Softail. Maybe the spring fork is heavier than telescopic forks? IMO this does make you work harder in the twisties, but that's a trade off.

I like the TC engine Softails better than the Evos. Nothing wrong with the Evo, especially if you are looking to experience the old time iron barrel shake with a more powerful and reliable engine. I've heard that 2002 TC engines were especially good ones.
