They made my shoulders hurt because I was pushing down on them to stay upright as it the case with many drag bars. That's why I think apes are more comfy. You're hanging on vs pushing yourself up. I had to switch cables and brake line for the apes, not the drag bars. The stock cables were in use for them. They were a Harley bar from 2003 when I bought the bike, don't know the details on them.
