You will also need a new Belt guard. The wide tire kit came with a new narrower belt guard (top) OEM 60571-98 U will need one or trim the original belt guard. The V-Twin catalog line sells one Pt#VT-27-0242 (65 Tooth Wide Tire). I have driven over 25k miles on the thinner belt/pulley and there were no issues. All Harley Softails 1984-1999 used a 32 tooth front drive transmission sprocket. That part remains in the conversion. See Installation instructions (HD J01185 REV. 1-16-98). The Wide Harley Davidson Dunlop D401 150MM Tire Kit, OEM 43684-98 had a 1 1/8" wide 65 tooth rear pulley and a 1" 132 tooth belt.
Thanks again for the info! I'm going to be doing this!
NP....Be sure to check out my thread on Softail "Wide Tire Kit" Some Guys have posted some pics recently..There is a few ways to go here...I personaly like my OEM rear fender. But some guys really go for W i d e...
Now I know exactly how they'll look on mine! I currently have down and outs and they drag, probably going to be worse when I drop the front end..Thanks!
An eBay purchase. Tips have small dents and scratches. Ive never seen a set of Big Radius pipes that didnt drag, and my bike's been lowered in the rear so its bound to happen anyway.
BTW O2 plugs can be bought at HD for $20 ea, or your local hardware store for $3.50 ea (you'll need 2, they're 18mm/1.5 thread pitch). VH part number 26029 for the pipes. All in I have $380 in that exhaust including shipping and new gaskets.
Going To a 160-16 requires only late modei1" belt,2000 and up hub and sprocket t. It fits under stock fender by using star blind nuts inside rear fender. I've done several of these swaps with good results. Go back a couple of pages and you can get more info. You have to break down and replace your rear wheel and change spokes to new hub. I've never spent more than a hundred chasing down hub and sprocket

I am satisfied with a 150, I wouldn't even hassle with it if I could find 140's.. I am going to fit a set of spokes front and rear so I'll reluctantly do the pulley and belt. I don't want to get too crazy.. Bringing the stock bars back has lead to re-chroming the trans cover and powder coating some stuff… I want to minimize wrenching if I can, at least until next winter when I have more time. That is not to say when summer hits and I have my bagger out I won't break into more…
I got my stock bars today, tried to order the cables and it seems they are obsolete and have not been superseded? I was really hoping to get a stock brake line. Any ideas will late model stuff work?
