My first and last time was 2013, I'd like to go again!

 

I've always wanted to go but the time involved, work was always a problem. Now that I'm retired, time isn't a problem BUT money is...retired. Plus my left shoulder would be killing me, so I'm sure I'd need 3-4 days to get there.

 

Three or four of us from Paris, TX are riding up to sturgis on the first weekend of the rally. We don't have any reservations or anything yet.

 

Now there's a plan...

 

We have the luxury of being able to play it by ear as it unfolds. We know when we're leaving, and we know when we're heading back - Aug. 2nd and Aug. 7th. Everything else in between doesn't matter. We plan on staying in Rapid City.

 

Riding to Sturgis alone this year from Houston. Taking the Colorado route, staying in Hill City. Been five times in recent years but always trailered. I'll be 65 this Fall so if I'm going to make the ride now's the time. Just bought a '17 Ultra Limited Low and it's a game changer for this 5'8", 30" inseam "old fart" rider. I was ready to give up riding or go to a trike. No more. Love this bike. Best Harley I've ever ridden.

Son and I are leaving on Monday, August 7 at 02:30 from Plano. Riding through the panhandle into NE New Mexico then into Colorado. Next through Cheyenne and arrive in Deadwood lat Wednesday night. Cant wait to get out of the heat and humidity.

 

I like reading these Sturgis plans. Makes me jealous.

 

Aaaaaah, Paris! I'll be passing through there on the 4th or 5th on my way to the Black Hills

 

We are leaving Paris, TX on Aug. 2nd, hopefully hitting Nebraska by end of day 1, then arriving in Rapid City, SD at the end of day 2. On the way back, leaving Aug. 7th, hopefully getting somewhere in Kansas end of day 1, then arriving back in Paris end of day 2.
