Smile Went With Synthetic Oils

Well, I finally did it after reading many/numerous/opinions about Synthetic Oils in the Primary and Main. I had been using Harley Formula Plus and HD 20W-50W oils. I decided to change out my Primary and Main to Mobile 1 Synthetic Oils in Both the Primary and Main. I put in Mobile 1 15W-50 and I used Mobile 1 Synthetic Gear Lube LS, 75W-90 in the Primary.

My results after a 60 mile ride is that I'am very pleased so far with this change. The Shifting Seem to be smoother. As Far as the Engine, I can't tell what difference, other than the Synthetic Oil should preserve the increased lifetime of my engine. I Change Oils & Filter at 3500.0 miles, on my 07 1200L.

Very Pleased!

Thanks for the useful info, I too have an 07 1200L and I've been wanting to switch from dyno to Mobil 1 synthetic.

Can you hear if your engine is noisier?

Sadly, our local WalMart did not carry it, so I went to Auto Zone!

For the 15w-50, try a Super Walmart if you have one in the area, they tend to have it more-so than the regular stores around here. It's usually stocked in a 5 quart jug (packaged exclusively for Walmart) for $23 - $25, depending on your location.

I did not look for the JUG...only the Quart Sizes. I'll look next time i'm in WalMart, for the NEXT Oil Change. Thanks Again for your breakdowns of oils on previous forums.

That's exactly what I'm running in mine. Was already using the Mobil 1 in the main but it was the kind made for "motorcycles". Apparently the automotive blend is better protection & the other is not required in our sporties because it's not shared. Anyway I guess I'm happy with it so far - top end might be quieter now I don't know. Can't really tell if there's a performance difference or not. Still runs right at 200 degrees when it's hot out so whatever - definitely didn't hurt anything.

My nearest walmart doesn't actually carry it but the big one that's 17 miles away does. And 17 miles is a nice ride on a sportster
