In '04 the Sportster went from a 130 rear tire to a 150. The frame changed and I'm fairly sure the fender struts are wider on an '04 up.
That doesn't mean it won't work, but that's what you're looking at.

is there a way we all can chime in with our year sportster and measure the width of the rear struts inside so we can come up with ideas of swapping around rear fenders from other models?

I'll measure my 1999 when I get home.

A 7.5" will never fit pre 03

Got it in the mail on Saturday, it showed up faster than I expected. The dims listed on the pic are incorrect, it's actually 6.5" wide, not 7.5". Which I kinda expected in the first place since it is listed to fit pre-03 models. I didn't buy it with the intention of putting it on my 2010, I bought it because it was cheap as hell compared to the Easy Rider fenders(~$280 for a VERY similar looking fender but are apparently fiberglass). It very well may sit on my shelf for a few years before I even do something with it, at $28 shipped I very well may even order a few of them.

As far as quality goes, I think i'ts good, it appears to be your standard ABS plastic. It's not intended for a passenger(obviously) but I see no reason why this should vibrate/flop/move/break/etc. I see no reason why this can't be a damn good looking option over the standard fender chop, especially for $28. No seam marks, or mold marks on the top side and with a little prep work should be good to go for paint.

It gets a thumbs up from me.

cause chopping the existing fender is free, and doesnt need to be painted.
Total cost - $0

if you like the style, cool, but I'm not one to pay for something if I already have what I need.

Yea I think it'll clear a 150 ok, however it certainly won't be wide enough between the struts of an 04+ model.
