Default 2008 ignition switch issue or

My 2008XL got light up in speedometer when I switch to ACC.

When I further switch to IGNITION position, no difference. I mean the headlight is not on, neither the neutral , oil and battery light.

Could this cause by bad switch? Anyway I can bypass the switch easily without taking off the tank?

Thanks for any help in advanced..

Hank

Check for continuity in the switch to verify if that is bad or not. Also check fuses.

End up I got bad ignition switch. The headlight will eventually turns on when I rock my key in the IGNITION position. I guess my heavy key chain causing this issue.

I am researching to replace the switch. I see some selling dyna-style (round key) switch for sportster on eBay. But no clue if it allows me to pull out the key as dyna after I switch to the ignition position also.

Here are the questions I am looking for answers
1) if I replace it with OEM, is it possible I can get one that I can use my old key? Do not like to carry two keys on the road
2) For the after-market switch, which one has good reputation and also can bolt-on to replace the old one directly ...

Thanks for any help for these two questions.

Use the lunch time to get the answer from local dealer. They ask for $71.47. Need 2 weeks to make it and deliver. It will be keyed same as original.

nashvegasmatt,
thanks for the info. Question for the switch you got. Can you move out the key after turning it to on position? Thanks

Nope. Works exactly like the factory switch does.
