RPM's seem low - 94 XL1200
Hey yall
I have been driving rockets for a few years, and I traded my GSXR for a 94 Sporty XL1200 for about a month ago. I couldn't be happier with my choice. Feeling the power of a Harley is like nothing else.
Now to the point...
I dont know if this is abnormal, or if I'm just not used to it yet, but my bike seems to have pretty low RPM's when I Ride. With speeds under 50 it seems normal. I usually shift around 3000-3200 RPMs and cruise around 2200-2600. Am I keeping them too low or shifting too early? It sounds right when i shift, but once I hit 5th gear I will be at 60 MPH with around 2900 RPM's. On the freeway I will cruise around 75 mph and my RPM's will be around 3300. Is that normal?
Where do you guys shift/cruise? where are your RPM's when your cruising at 60-75? Any input helps. Thanks, and see yall on the road

That all sounds perfectly normal to me for just puttering around, but I'd consider those to be about the lowest RPMs that I'd run. I typically up-shift at about 3,000 RPM if I'm just loafing about and the bike handles it fine.
But the engines are perfectly happy winding out to redline so if you're having a bit more fun, let 'er rev.
