Hey Shackdaddy
The Iron will always be a good looking bike.
Did you choose the pipes? Must have a good/smooth torque curve?
I ran 14 inch Pudgy Grit Hangers by Nash MC as well as the 12 inch mini apes. I then went to Biltwell bars called the Aces (which were the best ever). Tell me, are your bars knurled? Please make 100% sure they can't move in the clamp because going over a pothole isn't fun if they do (ask me how I know). Some guys tap the bars so they can't move.
As for the back issues. I found that the upright position was WORSE for my back because the shock travels straight up my spine, as opposed to past your coccyx if you're leaning forward some. I now have stock Iron/48 bars on my Nightster and I've yet to do a long ride.
I never had handling issues with either of my tall bars but then I learnt to ride with apes so it helps I guess.
Now save up for that engine kit and have a look at Hammer Performance, that will be my next mod.

The pipes were on the bike when I got it. I like them and I think they could look really good, but the color is changing a bit. Its not as noticable in the pictures as in person. Im thinking about going to something else later on, or sending these in and having them recoated. They are pretty smooth and have a good sound to them. I like the performance of them, so I will probably go with the ceramic coating and keep them. Its also the cheaper option.
The bars are knurled and are secure. I had an issue with my stock bars moving a little bit. So I made sure these are tight. Before I bought them, I did a good bit of research. I knew how I wanted them to look, but finding a company that made a product that I knew was quality was a little harder. It looks like Wild1 does good work and takes pride in what they make so I went with them.
As for the riding position, Im a big fan of it. Im thinking about getting the detachable backrest and at that point, I dont know what else I could need.
Hopefully around tax time I will have a nice 1250 kit ready to be installed. My only debate right now is going with headwork or not. I probably wont, because I honestly dont need the amount of power that I would be getting into if I go that route, but it is always nice be able to say you have it.
