Best setup I found on my 06 883 sporty was Heritage bars and sundowner seat and HD std forward controls. I'm 6' 240 lbs fwtw. Before that I couldn't ride 70 miles and I was ready to find a taxi. hth

The bars sit me in a more upright and relaxed position and the highway pegs allows for different leg positions. Went from Charlotte NC to Atlanta with no problems.
Ditto that, my 2008 has good position on the bars and the prev owner added a sundowner seat, not perfect but gotta be better than stock, I ride sometimes 3 hours each way for work and have no real issues with pain, I got a bad disk so I cant attribute the discomfort to the bike, our cage is worse!

With the hi-way pegs & floorboards it works will, 4 positions available plus the lindi bar but I only ue that when I strech-out on the autobahn.

Cheers,

.

Hello, appreciate all the great advice

I'm in search of a Harley Davidson store that has a demo of the Sundowner 2 up although I'm a little skeptical on whether or not I actually need to be any closer to the controls themselves

Mini floor boards might help on positioning my feet a little bit closer under me when I'm not shifting or breaking

all the roads I currently travel on are very smooth so if there was even a bump in the road the airhawk pad definitely takes care of that

A backrest might solve all the problems but at the moment that's my last option

Thanks

I went with a spring seat set up on my 2013 1200C and some Kuryakyn mini boards. I'm 5'8 with a 32" inseam.

I've got over 11k miles on mine. After making the above mods and some Progressive 430's I'm pretty happy with my set up.

I also rolled the stock bars forward so my arms are more extended when I ride.

Not sure if you're new to riding or just new to riding your sportster but unless you've got major pain I'd suggest you ride it a bit more and allow your bike and body more time to adjust to the new ride(r).

Not saying the stock set up is the best but there is a break in period with every seat.

The mini boards do offer several positions for your feet. I love mine. I can completely kick back and rest on my heels when cruising or position my feet on the rear edge like stock pegs. My 16" solo saddle allows me to move forward and back depending on how I want to ride.

Good Luck!

Thanks again, and yes new rider to the sportster

Johhny51273 would you be able to add any pics of the mini boards would you be interested in seeing how they look installed

I'm looking into the Mustang vintage solo , can't decide on reg or wide, I do know the backrest is only available in the wide version

I'm 5'9", 34 waist at 160

I concur about the mini floor boards, I was surprised at how much difference they made. I have the wide mustang solo (obviously with backseat on here) and 12.5" progressive 430s.

100 miles and you're already giving up? Get some actual riding experience.

What happened to the days when men were men?
