Thumbs up Modified Stock V&H Short Shot Baffles

I've been building this bike for a few weeks now. Put less than a mile on it before I tore it down. It came with Short Shots which I as well as many really like the way these look. I don't care much for how they sound...really loud with not a whole lot of tone. Been searching and researching all different kinds of baffles. I figured I would try modifying the "baffles" that came in them. I first removed heat shields and stock baffle assembly. My bike only has 3k miles so these came out with a few minor tugs. I then used a coarse bit on my dremel and smoothed down the ends. They have a small hump where the ends and baffle meet which is where these seemed to give difficulty with removal/install. I would put these back in nice and evenly and remove the same seeing where the black made it onto baffle and smooth down some more (to compensate for new baffling some) until they went in with little effort but still snug. I then took some header wrap and wrapped just the grooved baffling with a single fairly tight layer covering evenly as best I could. Taped it just to keep tight with install. They took some serious finesse installing without bunching up but after a few tries it went in beautiful and very snug. The wrap isn't going anywhere. Put the factory bolts back in and all set.

First Impression:
Not a whole lot quieter at idle but noticeable. It is definitely deeper and do like the sound much better than stock baffles. Sounds more like a Harley should. Throttle seems to be better. My bike has just the exhaust with stock tune and intake. Haven't got to really put any distance on them as still working on her. I will update once I do. So far I would recommend this. The header wrap should last a lot longer than fiberglass as well. Total Cost: $0
