Default Carrying Additional fuel on a Sportster

Hi

I am planning to do some long rides on my sportster and wanted to explore some options for carrying additional fuel.

How are you all doing it?

Depends how much extra you want to carry. If you want extended range a larger gas tank is the simplest option. An alternative is an add-on tank which can be installed on a rear rack and connected into your current fuel system (don't recall the brand).

4.5 to 5 gallon fat boy tank helps. This one fit right on my 2000 in place of the peanut tank. They're easy to swap back and forth, too, just slip a tube on the petcock to drain the gas, then comes off easy. And a lot of folks will think you have a big twin...

I have 2 20oz bottles as seen in this link http://www.cascadedesigns.com/msr/st...ottles/product

(picked up mine at Bass Pro) I threw them in my bag for a trip this summer. It was nice insurance, but luckily, I did not need them.

Tank size was the deciding factor in my decision to buy the Custom.
