Default New to Sportsters. Some help needed...

It's actually my sister's bike. A 2008 1200L Duracell. I took it out for a ride and I have to say, I love it. I was fortunate enough to be able to rip through the Ozarks for a couple hours and the bike doesn't disappoint.

That said, some ergo issues need to be addressed. I'm 6-5 so I'm really folded up on the bike. My sister is 6-0 and it's much much better for her. I realize maybe a Low wasn't the best choice for her, but she likes mid controls so we're going to work with that. The 1st thing I want to do is replace the seat. The current seat pushes her a bit to forward, but mainly she could use a bit more leg room. So we're considering this seat to give her a little more fore/aft movement, but it won't help otherwise.

Something like that but thicker (higher) would be better. More like a stock Triumph Bonneville seat. Anyone know of an option like that? Also, Biltwell says the ECM needs to be moved. I took a quick look and don't see an obvious place to move it to. Any help on that would be appreciated.

Another option would be something shaped like this -

Also - can the pegs and brake pedal be lowered?

TIA

You could consider getting her current seat remodelled by an upholsterer, to give her a better riding position, which will get round any ECU location challenges. Mean City Cycles gets plenty of positive feedback in the Touring forum, there are probably other custom seat makers who can do the same.

Thanks Graham. Unfortunately she's not big into patience. She ordered a RSD Enzo 2 up before I could wrestle the computer away from her. It's a great seat. Have one on the SGS. But, I'm not sure it will help the situation a bunch other than allowing her to slide back some.

I have used MCC. They do great work. But, I don't know if they can totally rework a seat. On mine they shaved the foam down, added memory foam, and did a nip and tuck. Hers would need a lot of foam and probably a whole new cover.

Also, it looks like moving the ecm is a no-brainer so that problem went away.

I have the same problem with mine pushing me too far forward. To be comfortable, it seems like I have to sit on the "hump" between the rider seat and passenger seat.

Let us know how the RSD seat feels in that regard!

No worries - she was on a spending mission. There's no getting in the way of that. Besides, you're 8 hours behind us. You are at a disadvantage.

Lol - I was doing just that sometimes yesterday. But her seat has a very defined ridge. It was a bit harsh on the twig and berries.

Grab some longer shocks and spacers for the fork spring to get about one inch more in height.

Zip-tied my ECM to the frame in front of the rear wheel.

Get a smaller battery and put the ECM on top of it. That's what I did.
