Default Changing Shock Springs

A few weeks back I came across a pair of Progressive Suspension 430 shocks on the dealers bargain table. They were new and marked down to a price that was unbelievable. The only problem for my application was they were 11'' standard duty, and my weight(215) is right on the standard duty limit max.
Threw them on and set the pre-load maxed out. Rode fine with just me, but what if the wife wants to ride?
Contacted Progressive Suspension and ordered new heavy duty springs.
Took all of 15 minutes to install including removing and re-installation. Total for the new springs, tools, and 430 shocks cost less then a set of bargain 412's. I'm one happy camper.

Can you post more details on the process of swapping out the springs? Aren't the seat and collar on the shocks welded on?

Progressive sells a special tool for $35. A few worm clamps can also do the job to compress the spring. The collar is held on by a C-clip and can be accessed once the spring is slightly compressed. Quick and easy with the tool. I'll post some pics using the stock shocks later tonight.
Crappy cell phone pics added on stock shock.

Direct from Progressive Suspension. Springs are $35 each(x2) and the tool was also $35. A cheaper but slower method is to use hose clamps to help compress the springs. See attachment for example.

I just put some 430's on my bike. I think they are the 12" ones but I got them brand new for $250 off ebay. Also threw in some progressive fork spring I bougt for $60. I had street glide shocks on it previously

I wish mine were the 12" model. But for the price paid, I can't complain.
