Sure it can be fun, but man, i want some hp

And yes, any bike is fun when you push it or ride it
Lack of power compared to what? Compared to a sport bike yes, but if you push the revs it will get up and go quite nicely. i remember when 1100cc was the biggest money could buy. Now you have HDs with 1600cc+ rider loaded that weigh over a half ton sheesh.

On twistie roads like dragons Tail, do you find yourself "wanting" for more? The 883 is my favorite looking bike on the planet, but I enjoy getting aggressive in turns. Don't want to buy a cruiser and then find myself jealous of the sportbike guys.

I know it's not a sportbike and I'm not talking knee dragging here, but can you get out and ride spirited when the mood strikes?
No... i did the tail and never got above 3rd. Honestly i wouldn't want to go faster on the tail on a cruiser. The 883 has enough torque to enjoy tail safely.

The rattler is better than the tail. About 5 miles off of 276 and 19. The tail is full of idiots.

Try rodi4ng a sport bike 1000 miles straight and tell us if you are still jealous. Lol

If you are considering buying an 883 you can probably find a good used 1200 for a few bucks more.

Man, when i rode to daytona and back from md, one thing was clear upon return I NEED MORE POWER! It's not even for stupidy on side roads. It's for passing and highway safety, trucks were trying to take me out. I couldn't get out of my own way.

In town the 883 was/is the perfect storm; on the highway (95) in NC, SC, and GA it was a death sentence. After conversion, my bike is good all around.

But i will never forget the humiliation handed to me by a random FXR. He was there... then he was a speck up ahead... there was nothing my bike could do.. nothing. He should have just left $150 on the nightstand when he was done shaming my bike.

No shame. FXRs only pass with brotherly respect, especially a fellow Evo

I agree the 883 has its element and freeways are not as kind as state highways. 1200 can be the same $$ for the right used one. Or a 1250 like Kevin's. Kevin said it right, plenty of power to have fun on the dragon, and more with mods. If OP isn't looking to drag knees I think he'll be close....or a nice used 1200R and be closer

Thanks for all the replies, it's really been a great help. Going to go test drive one of these and get first hand experience. Really do appreciate it.

Its not about 1600 cc and half a ton on this thread so save it man. No need to defend the lack of power the 883 has. Its pathetic period. When 70s and 80s metric 500 to 750 cc will crush it....come on dude.

Ive had 2 883's and still have one. I just couldnt deal with 40 hp......so i bumped it up a touch. I like to feel some hard acceleration out of a sharp corner.

No... my shadow 500 was gutless. 100mph was a pipe dream.... i dragged down many a bike line with the thing... should have been called the caboose

I wouldn't attempt a kneedrag on a stporty unless it was a xr. Theres too much low hanging crap. Even with 11 inch + shocks. You'd just be asking for trouble. They arent nimble like sportbikes either. Way more effort required to shift leans. Pull that ish on the dragon and they'll be hanging your parts on the tree of shame

Madnss, With all due respect, HP is what you brag about - but Torque is what you feel.
