Default sportster fuel pump problems

A buddy of mine has a 2008 sportster low and his fuel pump keeps turning on and off and has problems starting since this started. He has never had problems before and bike sits more than being riden due to the fact that he bought a dyna. He does crank it up every week and rides it about every three weeks. He is trying to sell it and three days ago this problem occured. Anyone think they might know what the problem could be?. He is needing to get this fixed pretty quick. Thanks.

Simple stuff first. Has he inspected and cleaned the fuel pump connector?
