it looks great! you hid the gel pad very well, if i didn't know better i would have assumed it was just the biltwell foam.
hope you get a chance to take a ride on it. I'm interested to know if the gel makes a noticeable difference

it's in the low 40's right now, a few more degrees warmer and I'll hit the garage and put it on.
here's a few more shots...

finally got the seat on and the bike out! I have to say, even with the gell pad, I don't notice a big difference in the comfort of the seat. it wasn't like I sat on it and went...aaaaahhhh...now that's soft...lol
I only did around 25 miles and it feels like any other sportster solo seat would feel. it's not a 200+ mile a day seat. for ripping around in the hood it's fine. so basically, it's obvious if you want a cool looking solo seat, you have to give up comfort for looks.
on the plus side, I saved about $80 just buying the biltwell raw pan and I like the distressed leather looking seat cover.
all I have left is the 10" sissy bar, black out the upper forks and put on the rsd diesel wheels when they arrive and i'm done.

That is usually the very first mod I recommend people do. The stock seat sucks. It just does. I'm still always on the constant lookout for comfort on my bike and recently ordered a Corbin Classic Solo seat for my 48. Here is a link to my post a while back that I wrote on my mods and "comfort". Maybe it will give you some ideas down the road

Ride safe and keep the rubber side down!

yes, ive seen that seat. it looks comfortable, but way too bulky for what i'm looking for. I would have tried the corbin hollywood solo made for the 48 but I have an 883 gas tank, so it wont fit, the seat was made for a 2 gallon tank. too be honest, I want a cool looking solo seat. I have a road king for comfort on long distance rides. so i'm just trying to find a cool solo seat for my sportster 48 that's as comfortable as possible.

hey why don't you try one of the springer seats they make? that might be a good compromise. The people that do like them very much.

I hear they're comfortable also, but i'm not a springer seat guy. I don't like the look of them personally.

You're done? haha don't lie to yourself. 8" z bars would look killer on that bike. Nice job on the seat.
