Default Ape Hangers on a sportster 72

Hey guys I know this info is probably on here somwhere, but I can't seem to be able to find it. I've searched and searched and can't seem to come across it!
So here goes I have a sportster 72 and I'm looking changing the bars, I'm thinking of going with the burly narrow 14" apes, my question is do I need to get longer cables and brake line or is there enough slack for the 14" bars Im thinking I will need to lengthen the wires but not sure if the cables and brake line are long enough? I'm trying to avoid having all that extra cable just hanging out there? Any insight would be appreciated!

If you want to put 14" apes on, I believe you need extended cables. I think you can make it work with 12" apes. check xlforum there is a post on this topic

When you go thru the Burly site and select your bike they suggest you get the extenders. Well it's more then a suggestion.

I opted for Roland Sands at similar height and it was a perfect marriage from the previous apes on my Nightster

If you put on the 14 inch apes then use the burly 12inch cable kit. There cable kits are long. The 12inch cable kit kits perfect.

Ditto.. The cable kits are waaaay too long. I put on 12" bars and have only used the longer clutch cable...kept factory for the rest...

I installed a set of 16" narrowglide licks apes on my buds 72 and the only thing i extended were the throttle cables. Rerouted the stock brake and clutch cables and the wires had enough slack.
