Default building my own exhaust need some input

I was going to build an exhaust similar to the spitfire hiandtite. I currently have a brass teardrop air intake. They do not make a filter for it so I made one out of filter medium and mesh screen. My question is the pipes I plan on building will be straight pipes what else do I need to do be aware of when building your own exhaust?

Your performance is going to be poor with straight pipes, especially in the low to mid RPM range. You should include Thunder torque inserts in your plans right from the start.

Use part of your stock header if you can. That's what I did. That way I have the boss for the clamps and the O2 sensor. Then I went up to a local header shop and bought off cuts and bends. Then went home and welded them up. I installed a couple baffles I bought on eBay. They are wrapped in glass but they are open in the center so they will be loud but hopefully a little muffled. I still need to take them in and get them high temp powder coated. Thinking black but I would really like to do white.

You should use either a baffle, torque cone or Thunder torque inserts to give you some back pressure. I used the entire front header pipe and tied the rear into a y pipe with a 4" beer can baffle in each side of the y on my exhaust I built.

I had the LAF Ground Pounder exhaust on my bike (think it's my avatar) and my only recommendation would be to somehow incorporate either 2" or 4" baffles in them. You're going to need the back pressure and they're absolutely obnoxiously loud just straight pipe. I could almost feel my motor slowly falling apart when I had the LAF's on. Just my

I do plan on using as much of the stock pipes as possible. I have slip on currently no idea what brand just not my style. I'm wanting to keep it 1 and 3/4 all the way back. I will look into seeing if the current baffles can be modified to fit the new design. Another look I'm kinda of digging is how the Japanese boys are doing short turn outs. But they look like they are just running stock Header with no mufflers.

I did that for a while, stock head pipes with a 4" beer can baffle and a turnout. I liked it ok, but prefer the 2-1 I finally went with.
