Default turn a regular sportster into a 48?

I can't afford a 48, but I was thinking what ever sporster I end up with, I't make a 48... what would it take? wideglide trees and the wheel. I know fatboy front wont fit, but what would it take to make it work? in all what kind of money do you think this would take?

Short answer: Dont do it, not safe

Cute answer : If you can afford to turn it, you afford a 48

Bad answer: if you cant afford a 48, cant afford to turn it

Good answer: Wait, save, work, buy a 48. Enjoy riding rather than garage pita work.

Pretty easy, cheapest is to get a mid glide from vulcan. I got a wide glide for the 48 and put the 48s front on my 883

get a Custom CB and then change the tank
big front wheel (which is why I bought one) and small tank (which is why I didn't get the 48)

Back in the day before there were 48's we used to convert sportsters to a mid or wide glide depending and run a 16 inch front wheel. Not safe. ?? I disagree . Guys have been doing that modification to there bikes for years and years.

Might be easier to get a 48 right off the bat. But if its going to be a long time till you have the money for one, go to the HD dealer or reputable independent shop and price out a front end conversion for a sportster and see what the price difference is between a sportster with front end conversion and a factory 48.
