Default Hammer Performance 1250 kit for my Cafe Sportster

I did it......well, I ordered it anyway.

Being my secondary, play bike, I settled for the standard kit that uses original heads and 10:1 compression. I finally realized that I just don't need a 100+ HP beast, just a stronger motor than the stock 883. Worst case, I invest an extra $350 beyond the cost of headwork and cams at a later date.

$1024 total including new gaskets, having the pistons installed, plus a clutch and clutch-spring tool.

I'll do my best to photo-document everything in this thread.

Wish me luck!

That's everything. Gaskets, jugs, pistons, and a stronger clutch with special tool.

The bigger version with cams and headwork is snot $700 more.

been there done that (but I did head work local, w/big valves and cams) ...the improvement is hard to believe... if I crack it open at about 5mph it lifts the front wheel until I need to shift...just to give you an idea of the power increase...

Nice.

This is one of the reasons I didn't choose the headwork and cams options. This little cafe handles good, but not like a modern sportbike. I'm thinking a brisk powerband from the displacement boost is enough for me.

Are these kits simple enough you can DIY? I think I'll wait till my 2-yr warranty is up, then go big.
