ornaments, mudflaps, hanging for drying paint,

or...they sell a rubber piece for $39.99 to fill it up.


My guess was the flaps, the rest was search results.

Wind tunnel testing might have shown some lift at high speed , so they had to let the air flow out to prevent it.
Just my inner tech geek thoughts.

Had to walk out and look at my 2014 48....nope, no hole...not sure why yours has one? Hope they didn't charge you extra for it....LOL.

my 11 has one. never thought to much about it. there are no accessories in the HD catalog for it so my guess is a hanging point for paint.

Over the years I have read the hole is to hang the fender for painting.

Plugs are available to fill the hole or add a mud flap etc.

I have a chrome allen head bolt plug/ button in mine which to me looks great.
