Default Sportster carb question

I have two Harley's a 1999 Sportster converted to 1200 with cams and Stage 1 intake and a 2013 SuperGlide Custom. Recently I changed the petcock filter, reattached the vacuum line and fuel line on the Sportster. There is a piece of 1/4" tubing from the back of the carb hanging down at least a foot and I don't know where it belongs. If it's an overflow tube how do I reroute it to the proper place.

That's your overflow tube. It routes down and then behind the pushrod tubes of the front cylinder and is laid on top of the oil filter towards the ground. Basically just route it to the ground away from anything hot and preferably towards the left side of the bike since the kickstand leans that way.

Awesome I thought that's what it was just not sure where it went. I've owned it 15 years and never had any issues until the vacuum split at the petcock. I changed the original tank filter and replaced the the lines. I don't know how that came out. My Wife rode it a few years but would rather ride with me. My son wants it thus the upgrade from the 883.
Thank you!!
Pep
