Terrific! Gotta appreciate good customer service. I've learned through my mod upgrade purchasing experiences that customer service many times (depending on what you are buying) trumps price...spend a little more and go through a trusted source to get good customer service.

Too cool. And I agree you need to make sure it's hooked. Nothing I hate worst is some rider bring down Harley's charisma by dropping parts in front of metrics.....let alone for me to dodge. For some reason, people seem to loose heel and toe shifters. My friends Hard bag feel down on one end and started bouncing on the James River Bridge. I tried to catch up but when junk started flying just backed off. He cut the corner completely out of it by the time he noticed and there was no safe stopping anyway on the bridge..think it's 5 miles long.

I think there was a thread on this last year sometime. Seems a lot of us had problems with wires under the battery cover and the forward clip didn't click in properly. I almost lost my cover in the first week of riding my Forty-Eight. Not sure if the dealer would have covered it either. It actually popped open when I was on the highway and I managed to pull it off and stuff it into my jacket.
I walked around the dealer a couple of days later and noticed that most of the bikes on the floor that had these covers had the same problem with the forward clip not being fully seated. I took the time to rearrange some wires and now it seats properly. I don't remember it being a quick, simple fix either. I had to do some work.
See if the sportsters at your dealer have the same problem. If a bunch of them are unclipped in the front, point it out and then mention to them that you lost your cover because the one you got from them had the same problem. Might work.

To answer your question here, Sportster exhaust stud nuts are prone to vibrating off. If you're comfortable doing it, I would add lockwashers.

Sorry to hear this happened to you , it happened to me ...cost about USD 130 for a new cover , buy some nylon zip ties , they will fit in the holes that are on the cover as well...snip off the excess ...sorry ...
I reckon it is a design fault in the clips ...HD should fix the problem . new clips or new locking mechanism.
