gasket came in today. have everything now to do the oil pump gear. have read everything I can find on it. good stuff on the NRHS and hammer site. between the rain and the baby have not been able to get any miles in... just have to talk myself into taking that cover off with under 200 miles on the bike ... I have one of those red craftsmen jack stands and its a tight fit under there... researching the best way to get it up on the stand. looks like maybe I can just roll it up on some plywood pieces to get enough height....

yeah I have to keep talking myself into not starting sooner, but the plan is to wait till after the 1000 miles are up. only 800 more to go... jack mods came out good, still need an 3/4" board under the rear wheel but once sitting on the board I can roll the jack right up under it from the right side till I clear the pipe hanger. can't say how safe the mods were, there was an angle grinder involved seems fine to me though, got the info from another thread....

clutch tool came in, got over 300 miles on the bike now so 700 more to go. Having serious reservations about paying $359.95 + tax for that 1000 mile checkup. I was going to have them do it but **** I know I could do it myself and what do I really gain? does it matter? I mean right after I get it back i'm tearing it down, and if something goes wrong with the drive train I'm probably screwed anyway warranty wise this is my first new one and have always done all my own work in the past...

well, made it to 330 miles without giving in to urge to do something...
decided to get the clutch out of the way. Got the bike up on my jack and following the service manual. took off some stuff in the way and now soaking the friction plates. also made a cardboard template to hold the primary bolts.
