Default sportster shocks

i was on a nice ride today .... 99 Sportster 1200C i have noticed it has a bit of a hard ride. i hit a small pot hole (it looked like it was filled) and heard myself yell OW as pain shot up my lower back. pain stopped right away. and i kept the ride going for about an hour and a half... keeping a sharper eye for pot holes.... so is there a way to adjust the shocks? i remember back in the 70's i had a honda where the back shocks were adjustable 3 positions from hard to soft ... are the Sportster's shocks adjustable, a softer setting?
it hardly feels like i have rear shocks.

thanks

ps... why doesnt my icon show?

Stock shocks are adjustable. If you have a service manual it tells you in there. How many miles you got. You can always look into upgrading. Progressive makes some nice shocks.

Best thing I've done to my sporty so far was put on road king air shocks. Lord what a difference!

I have a set available if you're interested!

you might want to even crank them up more, you might be bottoming out.

it was cranked up to the highest (hardest) position.
i brought it down to the middle position man what a difference.
