Default Stock seat "wiggles"

OK - this is probably a stupid question but I imagine a seat falling off would be a safety problem. Anyways, the stock solo seat on my 15 883N has a little bit of play if I wiggle it. The bolt itself seems secure so it is the seat. Is this normal?

Thanks

My 07 1200N does not wiggle.
The seat attaches easily so disassemble and have a look.

FWI - Perhaps the front mounting tang (mine is a pressure fit) needs some felt inserts, for example, to tighten it up. Not sure about this yet maybe your seat has rubber grommets/ bumpers where it sits against the frame and one fell off.

Should be an easy fix...good luck.

This is not normal. Have your dealer check it out under warranty.

Best thing would be if it fell off! You can really have a more enjoyable ride with a good seat. But your seat should be snug.

Pulled it off (easy) and the metal part underneath the seat where the keyhole peg goes is pretty loose. I cranked on it pretty good and it didn't seem like it would come off but I'll probably take a ride to the dealer soon, or take them the seat and see what they say.

Yeah, was planning on upgrading it eventually but I guess maybe it will be sooner rather than later.

Most of the popular aftermarket seats don't even have or use the keyhole plate and they aren't loose or wiggle. The problem is likely elsewhere.

Yeah, probably a combination of that and the slot where it slides in at the front having a loose fit. I could probably wrap it in some electrical tape or something and stiffen up the fit.

The stock seat on my 15 XL883N wiggles quite a bit, too, but doesn't budge when I'm riding. I'd love to hear what the dealer has to say about it if you take it in.

Well I didn't ask the service dept. about it but I had to take my bike in on other issues and while I was waiting I wandered by the brand new 883's and tested the seats. They all wiggle. Mine was used so probably a little more broken in but like you said, when I am riding it doesn't move. I will assume it is "working as intended".
