1987 Sportster Repaint Project

Took a short ride today to get gas, didn't have any issues but did notice the exhaust sounded different, ended up being an exhaust leak. Forgot to tighten the sissy bar bolts and lost three out of four of them. Other than that, felt like the same bike. Still figuring out the turn signal mounts and the speedo mount, but I think that's about it. Painting nuts and bolts when I find them to match. The more I look at the hydrographics, the less impressed I am with them. From more than three feet away it's hard to see the details. The plate metal in the tears on the tank and fenders look like camo from far away which I hate. Still nicer looking than pink flames haha

Yeah the seat is unchangeable, there is hardly any touring seats available for older sportsters, and this is the only one that's been decent enough to ride more than 100 miles in a day.

I'm a little late seeing this but I think it looks great. The closer you get the more you realize you have to study. Yeah, at a distance some of the detail is lost but the colors catch your eye and draws you in closer to see the rest.
I'd be happy with it!

Thanks! Ended up having to have the tank redone, the paint blistered pretty bad around the gas caps, but my painter figured out what he did wrong on the original paint job, so it turned out great this time. he's going to redo the fenders for me this coming winter. I think I'm going to rebuild the motor over the winter as well, it's about due. Got a lot of riding already planned.
