The Custom has it's own version of the visor starting with the 2011 model. It's not used to mount the head light. Removing it will draw more attention to the unique to the Custom handlebar risers.

I have to disagree on the way Sportsters looked going back to 1957.
No Ham Can a/c, No visor
They look like what a lot of us do to the newer ones, round air cleaner large headlight, solo seat, chrome shock covers, kick start, large tank, clean bars no switch housing and a few other things some of us chop our Sportsters to look like.

Photo I took of a 1957 Sportster at the Harley Muesum in Milwaukee.

Yeah, I like that look. Mine won't be quite that and I'd like to not replace the headlight until I can go LED but in the meantime, I would like to remove that visor and find whatever it is I put in its place.

Found some more options

Zombie performance makes a bracket you can use. Just flip the light upside down, spin the securing ring around and no more hood!

And they make this cable router too which I think is pretty cool

Also found a post on another forum where the guy shows what he did to change the light mounting on his

You could route cables through that too.

Installed that same cafe fairing. You can route the throttle and clutch cables inside with some creativity.
